If there’s anything more complicated than understanding Physics, it is making plans with your friends. Everyone’s cockiness, inability to accept they’re wrong and passive aggressiveness is pretty visible when it comes to making plans. If at all you guys make it to the 7th stage, you’ll know how much of brain is involved in this. Following are the different stages of making plans with friends –
1. Stimulus
One Friday evening, there will be a person who has absolutely no plans for the weekend. They lied about having a rave party at work, and now they need Instagram pictures to prove it. This person is really needs something to do, and they decide to text their friends. The plan is introduced at the WhatsApp group, where everyone is expected to answer with a yes, but that doesn’t really happen.
2. Response
After five hours of waiting for at least someone to take the initiative to reply, there will be the first no, coming from a friend who you don’t even remember. You are tempted to reply “teko count bhi nahi kiya tha“, but you’re bigger than that. Majority of the people say no, with only four to five of them saying yes. But you can work with that, so you go ahead to discuss it with them on a new group.
3. Filter
Now the plan has flaws. Maybe it doesn’t, but your friends will find it for you. No matter what plan you decide, they always have ways to make it better. With the four of you, the plan goes through four stages, with each person giving an insight to what might be the perfect way to spend the weekend. Your plan may have been just about getting a coffee, but it has now gone to spending a week at Paris.
4. Decision
Anybody is going to choose Paris over coffee. After taking into consideration everyone’s point of view, you have four different plans at hand. Everybody has to vote which plan they like the best, depending upon duration, budget and other things. This stage is the most difficult because there is no majority. Everyone wants their plan to work out and hence this takes a longer time.
5. Changes In Brief
No it’s Saturday morning and there’s no decision yet. Paris is out of the picture because you all are too late for that. Out of the three plans that are still possible, at least two go through some serious changes because there’s been a change if brief by the client. One friend says he might not be available at that time, so the plans go through alteration, once again disrupting the whole schedule.
6. F*ck It
It’s Saturday night and your ass is still at home. All you wanted was once Instagram picture with your squad, to prove to the office bitches that you’re not a loner, but your friends make you wonder why aren’t you one already. The time has gone, there’s no scope for any plan, so the best thing you can do is switch off your phone, watch your favourite movie and order some pizza. And frankly, it’s the best.
Here’s to all the plans that didn’t work out.
