What a movie! What a way to celebrate and honour the ten years that have been put in by the makers, the fans and everyone associated with the saga! What an absolute treat for the eyes to watch our favourite superheroes battle it out against the mightiest and the strongest villain of all! What a beautiful, outstanding movie! The Avengers: Infinity War deserves each and every accolade that it has been getting. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, now would be a great time to turn away from this blog because there’s a lot to talk about this movie. Major spoilers ahead. So let’s get started, shall we?
Thor Ragnarok’s mid-credits scene has the Asgardian ship being intercepted by a larger spacecraft. Fans knew it was Thanos, as MCU has been building up for the Infinity War premise for a long time now. The movie begins with Thanos raiding the ship, murdering all Asgardians with just Thor, Loki and Heimdall left. We all know what he wants, but Odinson was not going to give up this easy. They put up a tough fight but Thanos and his Children are a way more powerful and way more equipped. Long story short, Loki and Heimdall are murdered, Hulk is sent back to earth to warn Strange and Thanos has three Infinity Stones now.
On earth, Banner reaches the Sanctum and tells him about the horror he just witnessed. They go to Stark but before they can do anything, Thanos’s children attack earth trying to retrieve the Time Stone from Strange. Spider-Man joins in the quest, trying to protect Strange, but the fight goes in vain because they get hold of Strange. Iron Man and Spider-Man, along with Strange go into space.
Meanwhile, on earth, Vision and Wanda’s romantic getaway is interrupted by two of the other children of Thanos, trying to get the Mind Stone. Captain America, Black Widow and Sam save them, but Vision is wounded. They take him to Wakanda to remove the Mind Stone from his body without harming him.
In space, Thor meets the Guardians of the Galaxy. Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax and Mantis go in search of Thanos to defeat him, while Thor, Rocket and Groot go to get a weapon that would kill Thanos. The meet between the former of the group goes disastrously as Thanos takes Gamora with him, now in possession of the Reality Stone. The group reach Titan, where they meet Iron Man, Strange and Spider-Man.
Thor goes to Nidavallir, where he finds Eitri, who is a weaponsmith. With his help, Thor gets the Stormbreaker. Meanwhile, Thanos sacrifices Gamora for Soul Stone and returns back to Titan where he finds Iron Man and crew. They put up a tough fight but are ultimately defeated by Thanos who gets the Time Stone in exchange for sparing Iron Man’s life. With five stone in his possession, Thanos heads straight for earth.
In Wakanda, things are going bizarre as all the heroes are fighting against Thanos’s children who have come to retrieve the Mind Stone. Thor makes a ravishing entry with Groot and Rocket, but just when you think they have won the fight, Thanos comes to Wakanda and takes the Mind Stone. Wounded by the Stormbreaker, he snaps his figure and half of the world’s population is done. Barnes, Drax, Groot, Mantis, Maximoff, Parker, Quill, Strange, T’Challa and Sam disintegrate, leaving behind Nebula, Stark, Banner, M’Baku, Okoye, Rhodes, Rocket, Rogers, Romanoff and Thor. The movie ends with Thanos looking at the sunset on an unknown planet.
The post-credits scene has Nick Fury and Maria Hill, driving around the city when they notice people disintegrating. Maria disintegrates, and just when Fury is about to vanish himself, he sends a distress signal to Captain Marvel.
With Ant-Man and the Wasp lined up for this year and Captain Marvel for March 2019, patience is running out with Marvel fans. Infinity War has been, by far, Marvel’s most ambitious and enigmatic project. Next year, in May, we will know the fate of our favourite superheroes and how many of them will be coming back to life. With Clint and Ant-man not included in the movie, it’s obvious that they’re going to play a huge role in the next and last instalment of the Avengers.
If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you are missing out on something huge. Experience Infinity War in a theatre near you, as soon as you can.
