The whole world had its eyes set on the United States of America, as it would decide how Americans see themselves and the world. We were all watching America take one of the most important decision a country has to take, choosing a leader that was going to represent them for the next four years. Barack Obama served as the President of United States for eight years who will be succeeded by Donald Trump. Only time will tell what is going to happen, but this is about something else.
Hillary Clinton, a Democrat nominee and a person who has dedicated her whole life to politics and social activism was the perfect candidate who would change America for the good. Sensible people were supporting her in the campaign including Hollywood’s most prestigious list of celebrities who had faith in her. Let’s not kid ourselves, we all knew she was better than Trump, someone with no political background or morals.
The very first reality that we saw in Hillary’s defeat was injustice. There are many people who go through it, and Hillary is just one of those now. When you know you can do something great, you have the right kind of education and experience in what you want to do, and have nothing but greatness to spread, you suffer injustice when you least expect it. Someone who is not nearly as qualified as you are is given the opportunity and you’re not, which is not just. This is what our world is really about. Serving things on a platter for people who don’t deserve it and not even giving an opportunity to someone who really could bring about a change is how things have always been here.
Double standard is another thing that has been existent everywhere. The popularity of Clinton in the States was something that couldn’t be hidden. That is exactly what gave everyone the perception that Clinton would become the 45th President of the United States. The result was shocking because nobody had anything good to say about Donald Trump. I don’t even need to point out what went wrong here.
And lastly, Hillary Clinton didn’t win the Presidential Election 2016 was because she is a woman. She is a woman and she dreamed of changing the world. She has aspirations that could not be curbed by any man and wanted to make women worldwide feel empowered. This is the biggest reality of today.A woman can reach the moon but becoming a President and leading a democracy is not something that she can handle. If a woman is standing opposite a man, she has already lost the battle. This message has been sent loud and clear by the most powerful country in the world.
As Hillary said in her concession speech – “And to all of the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams”, this is not a setback. This is the time to rise and fight back until our voices are heard. Thank you for your courage Hillary, women all over the world are proud of you.
We hear you, America. Thank you for your honesty.
