The Global Citizen Festival India In Mumbai Is Today

If you held a belief that all of this was a hoax, it’s time to give up buddy. This is really happening. As the age old saying says, “all good things come to those who wait”, the best thing for every Indian Coldplay fan has finally come after years of waiting and Twitter pleading. Coldplay is set to perform at the first Global Citizen Festival in India today, at the MMRDA Grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.

A lot went down since the last time it was announced that Coldplay might be coming to India this year. There were speculations about this being a rumour, and if they were really coming, where would their concert be held. All these questions were answered by the Global Citizen India page, where it was announced that Coldplay is really coming to India for the very first Global Citizen Festival.

Through 5 action journeys that would involve signing petitions, emailing, sharing and tweeting about issues that mattered to people who could bring about a change, the festival tickets were won by participants through a lucky draw. The tickets were also sold by BookMyShow, so if people who didn’t want to participate in the activity could directly buy the tickets go to the festival. While the action journey tickets were free of cost, the tickets being sold were expensive.

Global Citizen India had many partners that had their own volunteering activities and competitions through which people could win tickets. The Green Batti Project gave away 500 tickets among the 1000 volunteers who offered to give a day to surveying municipal schools in Mumbai. Ola and Quaker had their own set of campaigns to provide more and more people the tickets to the festival while doing their bit towards the society and the environment.

Various artists have been lined up for this event including Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan among others, and some Indian bands. Jay Z and Demi Lovato will also be joining the festival line up promising a plethora of events and fun.

For the whole artist line up, you can visit globalcitizen.in/en and see who all will be gracing the festival. We hope you have booked your tickets by now, as Coldplay doesn’t come to India every other day. Let’s hope the festival is twice as much fun as we think it is.
