If you haven’t seen SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali: The Conclusion, now would be the right time to get off the post as what follows are a lot of spoilers. Baahubali: The Beginning ended with a lot of suspense and questions unanswered. The second installment of the movie would tell us everything we wanted to know, and now, we finally do.
The movie begins with Sivagami shown being proud of Amarendra Baahubali, the would be king of the mighty kingdom of Mahishmati. We see many such occasions where the strength of Amarendra Baahubali is visible, especially when he saves Devasena’s kingdom from the attacks of the Pindaris.
Anushka Shetty’s Devasena is fierce, unapologetic and bold. She challenges Sivagami on many levels, but on all the right issues. Baahubali, as a marital oath, had promised Devasena that he would always protect her integrity and dignity. Sivagami feels challenged by this new woman in Baahubali’s life, which is the beginning of the downfall of the mighty hero.
Taking advantage of the now estranged relationship between Sivagami and Baahubali, Bhallala Deva and his father plot a conspiracy of getting Baahubali killed by Sivagami herself, in which they succeed. Sivagami is told that Baahubali tried to kill Bhallala Deva, falsely accusing Baahubali of blasphemy. Enraged by this, Sivagami orders Katappa to kill Baahubali, otherwise she would do it herself. Yes, this is why Katappa killed Baahubali.
What follows is a blood bath between Mahendra Baahubali, the son and the rightful king of the Mahishmati empire, and Bhallala Deva, the usurper. The story line is pretty much what was predicted by the fan theories. The VFX, war scenes and the performance of the ensemble cast are the reasons you need to watch the second part for. SS Rajamouli’s direction takes Indian cinema to a whole new level. The movie is definitely worth the wait of two years. Enjoy this long weekend with a Baahubali experience.
Now you know the answer to the most important question.
