Hi. Today we’ll be discussing a grave issue that haunts all our lives. Yes, it’s salary. The money we get for working five days a week, sometimes six. It is supposed to last us one month, but sadly, that’s never the case. The story of salary is one of tragedy. We’re just in the middle of the month and all the money has vanished like magic. This is how it happens –
1. 1st of every month
This is the happiest day of every month. This is the day you get paid. You can officially start spending money on all the things you dreamt of since last month. Because you believe in celebrating happiness today, you start spending all the money on the 1st itself, which leads you to what all will follow.
2. 10th of every month
By the time you reach 10th day of every month, the money slowly starts to decline. Your salary is spent on food you don’t need, drinks that get your hungover every weekend and gifts that you definitely shouldn’t treat yourself with. But because you think your money is going to last forever, you continue.
3. Mid-month
Back in school, results used to tell us where we really stand. Mid-month bank account details are the adult equivalent of that. At this point every month, you are officially broke. The worst part is, mid-month is here with the blink of an eye, and there’s nothing you can do about it. By now, it’s too late.
4. Poverty
Your debit card no longer serves the purpose that it used to. You avoid seeing it, keeping it away from your eyes. Poverty strikes twenty days after that when you realize how poor you really are. You start to regret all the money you spent on stupid things and begin hating yourself.
5. Hope
You have nothing to live for until you see the calendar. The phase of hope begins when you realize in just two days, you’re going to have money in your account. These two days, you just hold on. And the story of salary for another month begins.
Hang in there! It will pass.
