Hey guys, have you been waiting for GOT with thumping hearts and a dedicated Whatsapp group?
Well, wait no more! The much-awaited Season 8 Episode 1 is here and for all you crazy fans out there, here is a quick summary of episode 1 :
Winter has finally arrived, ladies and gents!
After an epic end to season 7 with Viserion destroying the crap out of the Wall with an icy blue flamethrower, we see that it’s reunions galore and fun times (read: bloody) to be had at Winterfell.
Oh, and what a sight-for-sore eyes are the changed opening credits starting with the Wall blown wide open and the area beyond the Wall turning electric blue depicting the Night King’s colors!
Jon and Arya, Sansa and Tyrion(ouch!), Bran and Jaime Lannister(what’s up, buttercup?) are all in on the reunion action.
It becomes apparent that Jon Snow and Daenerys are in cahoots to team up with the Lords of the North to fight the evil, dead-but-alive snow-White Walkers.
Everyone can see that Jon and Daenarys have googly eyes for each other and that makes Sansa a bit suspicious about Daenerys’ intentions. But that doesn’t deter them both from having some much needed alone time with Jon riding Rhaegal and Dany aboard Drogon the dragon to a scenic waterfall.
Meanwhile our adorable chubster, Sam Tarly discovers that Daenerys was responsible for the deaths of his father and brother (burnt to a crisp because apparently, they didn’t do a lunge at her command).
This, and our in-house Three-Eyed Raven – Bran prompts Sam to tell Jon that in fact, he is Aegon Targaryen, the true heir to the Iron Throne, courtesy of a (very married) Rheagar and (always the rebel) Lyanna having date night years ago. Jon is flabbergasted, and well accepts the fact that Dany is his dear Aunty!
Lounging at King’s Landing
Meanwhile, Cersei is pretty chill at King’s Landing with Euron Greyjoy just bursting to have some bedroom action with her in return for providing a new-and-improved Golden Company army of mercenaries.
Cersei has put a bounty on her brothers’ heads with Bronn being a bounty hunter. Qyburn, the faithful mad scientist provides Cersei with the same bow which was used to murder Tywin Lannister, to be used to kill her own brothers Jaime and Tyrion.
Theon Greyjoy goes and rescues his sister Yara, who is very much alive at the Iron Islands and together they plot to take back control of the Iron Islands from their uncle and Cersei’s friend-with-benefits, Euron Greyjoy. But seeing that Theon longs to return to Winterfell, Yara bids him adieu.
Hello folks! Make way for the Night King!
Tormund Giantsbane and Beric Dondarrion arrive at the Last Hearth to find the remaining members of the Night’s Watch and a very terrifying reminder that The Night King (and his army of the undead), has left his mark at the dilapidated castle (the ancestral home to House Umber, an ally of the Starks) with a zombified Ned Umber plastered to a wall just waiting to jump on anyone who passes by.
Jaime Lannister, ever the handsome and mysterious stranger, arrives at Winterfell and comes face-to-face with Bran (our resident Three-eyed Raven). Oh, the creeps!
It’s not a surprise guys, Bran must have known he was coming!
