1. Food Sharing
Imagine a situation where you just ordered a McDonald’s meal for yourself. You asked the other person if they wanted fries, and they said no. You ordered a meal, which is fries inclusive. If the other person is a friend, they will not dare to touch your fries. But if they’re your best friend, not only will they touch but also finish more than half of your fries without asking you. You just have to make your peace with it.
2. Emotions
When you’re really angry, or happy, sad, irritated, the very first person you call after your family is your best friend. Any major/minor thing happens to you must be conveyed to your best friend as soon as possible or it has no value. With your friends, you barely feel like updating them with anything about your life. They don’t know you that well, nor do you feel like conveying anything to them.
3. Parties
At a party, when you’re only dancing and drinking with other people, they’re just your friends. That’s what you do with friends, just groove to the music. With best friends, parties aren’t just about grooving to the music. They’re about judging other people, drinking like crazy and dancing to the wackiest tracks. If you’re not doing that, you don’t have best friends.
4. Texts
The most recent people that are on your WhatsApp list are your best friends. Because you both are judgemental people who like to gossip and share information on minutely basis, your frequently contacted list includes their name. With friends, it’s only about birthday wishes and small talk. They just exist in your contact list, nothing more than that.
5. Everything
There’s a huge difference between how you do everything with your friends and your best friends. With friends, the best things can turn into boring activities. But with best friends, the most basic things become an opportunity for all of you to turn it into a memory you will cherish forever. That’s the difference between a friend and a best friend.
You can have many friends. Best friends are only a few.
